My name is Isaac Kim and my story starts with my parents who were both born in Korea, but met when my dad caught my mom’s eye uniting people at a rally at SF State in the 80’s (that's him doing just that in the picture). I am blessed that my parents always cared about fighting for what is right. Even with their small business which was located in Van Nuys CD6, they exemplified the importance of integrity and feeling good about what you are doing. Their business was called California Water Conservation Co., and with hard work, they showed me that you can also “do good, while doing good”. I put those lessons into action when I started my own purpose-driven small business that donates soaps and helps provide free hot showers to people experiencing homelessness.

I graduated from Columbia University in New York City where I studied Economics and Philosophy, but more importantly, where I also met my wife. We love living in Van Nuys with our dog, Bellie, just down Sherman Way from my parent’s old office. On Sundays, we go to the Hillside LA church where we also regularly volunteer as baristas at the church café. On days off you can often find us with
our dog at a park in CD6 or in LA.
For The Valley and FOR ALL.
I am running for LA Council District 6 because I genuinely care. The valley is my home and I feel fortunate to have planted roots here in CD6. I will work hard for a better future for our neighbors and neighborhoods.
Prior to starting my business, Pilot Men’s Grooming, I worked for both small and large companies in operations and forecasting. Now, more than ever, we need meaningful changes that make our community,
district, and city better now and for future generations.
